Support HSJI

For more than 70 years, the High School Journalism Institute at Indiana University has been preparing teachers and students for work in newspapers, yearbooks and multimedia at the high school level.

If you or your son or daughter spent part of a summer at HSJI, then you are familiar with the rich experience these workshops provide. For students, tasks include hands-on design, writing, reporting, editing and multimedia projects, including planning their fall publications. Teachers learn from experienced professionals ways to incorporate journalism training in their classrooms and with their publications students.

We often hear from alumni of the programs about how valuable the experience was for their future endeavors, from the immediate benefits for the school year after the workshops to lifelong pursuits in journalism that have their beginnings in a few weeks on the IU campus one summer.

Show your support of the program with a financial donation that will help support initiatives such as:

• Keeping registration fees affordable so more students can experience campus life and immerse themselves in journalism;
• Providing enrichment opportunities at the institute, such as special projects, guest speakers and field trips; and
• Funding initiatives that assist rural and inner city schools in creating and developing student media.
