Young journalists improve knowledge at HSJI

Zoë Harris from Ben Davis High School sits in Franklin Hall with 80 other students who want a chance to spend a week doing what they love: journalism.
The High School Journalism Institute Program by Indiana University located in Bloomington provides a variety of opportunities for high school students interested in broadening their skills and knowledge of journalism, and furthermore, also aids in providing high school students from all over a glimpse on the college experience for a week. This extensive summer program is said by participants to be an extremely helpful and wonderful experience for high school students who have a passion for journalism.

A Man With a Plan
Dean Vonderheide of Jasper, Indiana has always fulfilled the goals and objectives he has set in his life. Ever since his playing days on the football field for the Indiana Hoosiers, he has always had a very calculated approach to life.
Now he brings that approach to the mayor’s office in Jasper.
The story starts in DuBois County, Indiana, where Mayor Vonderheide was raised. He excelled on the football field and dreamed of playing at the collegiate level; the first major goal he achieved. Despite attention from various midwestern universities, he still chose to attend Indiana University, due to its proximity to Jasper, gorgeous campus, and prestigious football conference.
