Evanston teen creates emotional outlet

Being a senior in high school can be a challenging time for everyone in the graduating class, juggling classes, college applications, and overall moving up in the world. Upcoming senior, Meaghan Haughey, a senior at Evanston Township High School, has all of that on her plate including running her own organization called moving your mind. It is a stress and anxiety reducing program that is for ages 11-18, her and her partner provide creative and physical emotional outlets that are healthy for the mind.

Meaghan Haughey enjoys a sunny day at the IU campus. Another activity Meaghan appreciates is spending time with her community service club.

But it’s not just her.

“We are in contact with different organizations in Evanston, Indiana who work with underserved communities so we can get more people at our events,” Haughey said.

Some of those events is a spin class, a yoga class, and boxing sessions

“For the events we are in contact with different local businesses such as, a cycle bar, Spenga, Title Boxing Club and other local businesses,” Haughey said.

They have been so successful that they have a scheduled interview with ABC News and they have had an article written about them in the Evanston town newspaper.

Haughey, who plans on going to college to become a nurse, also is a proud member of the community service club. “I joined community service club to meet people throughout my community and to give back what I can once a month,” Haughey said.

Meaghan definitely has enough on her plate but she finds fun a helpful ways to exert the stress and anxiety by being a generous and kind person to her community.
